Our partner Lightspark, which provides the custody, transfer and exchange services has updated its End User Terms of Service. Our Terms have been updated to match.
Why: In June 2026, Lightspark Payments Europe was licensed under MiCA, the EU’s crypto-asset rulebook, as both a crypto-asset service provider and an e-money institution. And they have since passported these authorisations across EU/EEA. The new terms reflect that.
Most important updates:
- Custody: Your Bitcoin is legally separated from Lightspark's own assets, so it stays protected even if Lightspark becomes insolvent.
- EUR: Euro balances used to pre-fund Bitcoin transactions, or resulting from the sale Bitcoin are safeguarded in a dedicated account with a credit institution.
- Security: Logging in and approving transactions may require strong authentication, such as an authenticator app or passkey.
- Transfers: Crypto transfers follow EU Travel Rule requirements.
The new Terms apply to you from 12 November 2026. You can read them here: https://www.wave.space/terms-and-conditions (specific partner terms are linked in Section 6).
If you don’t agree, you can close your account free of charge before that date.
